CenterPoint Energy BESS RFP
CenterPoint Energy Indiana South issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the turnkey delivery of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the F.B. Culley Generating Station in Warrick County, Indiana. The 2022/2023 IRP calls for the retirement of the coal-fired steam turbine at F.B. Culley 2 and the 2025 IRP confirms the replacement of the generator with an energy storage resource. Information on CenterPoint IRPs can be found at https://midwest.centerpointenergy.com/irp/.
The desired Project is a utility-scale BESS facility with a total power of 90 MW of AC capacity at the POI and a minimum of 360 MWh of deliverable energy. The latest acceptable commercial operation date (COD) for the Project is 12/31/2028 due to the 3-year MISO requirement to re-use the existing F.B. Culley 2 Interconnection Agreement.
CenterPoint will only accept Proposals structured as turnkey contracts, such as Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) or Build-Transfer Agreements (BTA), under which CenterPoint will retain full ownership and operational control of the facility.
